Comments closedHere’s my take on Lars Karlsson’s tune Leyas Vaggvisa. I’ve reworked it into the style of a nordic bridal march, turning the time signature into 4/4 in the process. It works quite well (I think) but the sound quality isn’t what I’d hoped – I’m recording directly from the Streb’s line output using the internal midi synthesiser. I’m playing mostly on the inside row of a Bb/Eb melodeon setting.
Melodeon.net tune of the month for October 2019.
Comments closedHere’s a reworking of Bonny Kate, the english reel, here played as a jig. I think it goes quite well. Played in F on a C/F Hohner Club I and part of melodeon.net’s theme of the month for October 2019, Old Tune of the Months.
Comments closedThe Hogmanay Jig is a Andrew Rankine tune – a scottish accordionist and band leader. Jump at the Sun is by John Kirkpatrick of course. 2 great 32 bar jigs which we play together in my Milton Keynes based ceilidh/barndance band Pamplemousse www.pamplemousseband.co.uk

Comments closedAlso known as Captain O’Kane, and originally composed by O’Carolan. A beautiful air, learned from the playing of Leveret as part of Melodeon.net’s theme for August 2019, ‘Tunes you’ve just learned’ and played on a Castagnari Mory in D/G.
Comments closedA beautiful piece by Monteverdi, written in 1624 and originally a madrigal/song, here reworked for melodeon. Part of Melodeon.net’s tune of the month for August 2019 ‘Tunes you’ve just learned’ and played on a Castagnari Mory in D/G
Comments closedWhoops! I accidentally ran this tune of the month twice (it ran last year too), so here’s a ‘different’ version of it, switched to 4/4 and played as a quickish hornpipe.
Melodeon.net tune of the month (again) for August 2019 and played on a Castagnari Mory in D/G
Comments closedA lovely french mazurka written by french gurdy player Gilles Chabenat. A gorgeous tune, and melodeon.net’s tune of the month for July 2019. Here it’s being played on a Bb/Eb Hohner Preciosa in C minor. Normally, it’s played in D minor I think.
