Margaret’s Waltz

A lovely waltz composed in 1959 by Pat Shuldham-Shaw from Stratford-upon-Avon, and dedicated to Margaret Grant, representative in Devon of the EFDSS on the occasion of her retirement. Often played (by fiddles anyway) in A. but here I’m playing it in G on a (more or less) standard 2 row Hohner D/G pokerwork.

Melodeon.net’s tune of the month for November 2024.

C Polkas

2 ‘old school’ french polkas, played for melodeon.net’s theme of the month ‘old tunes’. As far as I know, they’re unnamed Auvergne polkas; picked up from the Nigel Eaton and Andy Cutting recording ‘Panic at the Cafe’. I’ve heard them a few times in different places, sometimes in G and referred to as ‘the G Polkas’, but here I’m playing them on a G/C Hohner Liliput, and they come out in C.
