Month: April 2020

The Canal in October / Speed the Plough – Session Set

Recorded both for the Vaults Bar virtual session, and the melodeon.net theme of the month ‘Favourite tunes’. These are the tunes I will normally play if we get into playing the last thing at the end of a session. Good, fun tunes that everyone can join in, but have something about them too. The gap at the end of the last time through of Speed the Plough is so I can shout ‘out’ at the end, by the way – playing and talking are hard 🙂

Recorded on a Castagnari Giasco I in D/G.

The Woodcock / The Kerfunken

2 irish jigs played in a not-very-irish style. Great tunes both. Arrangement very much influenced by the version Chris Wood and Andy Cutting used to play, a *long* time ago.

Played on a D/G Castagnari Giasco I

Schottische Adele Blanc-Sec

Another quick contribution for the Virtual Vaults Bar Session, and also for melodeon.net’s theme of the month. This is Frederic Paris’ schottische Adele Blanc-Sec, played on a Van der Aa melodeon in G/C (so we’re in Am).

The Railway

Melodeon.net’s tune of the month for April 2020 (and also for our weekly virtual session for the Vaults Bar Stony Stratford) is this little jig, ‘The Railway’. Played on a Hohner Preciosa in Bb/Eb.

Carousel

A quick recording for our Virtual Vaults Bar Session. Also a favourite tune, for the melodeon.net theme of the month for April 2020 🙂 Recorded on phone by the fair Liz, and played on a Hohner Club I in C/F.
