Month: November 2014

Rose Howard

An exquisite piece written by Sam Sweeney and Rob Harbron, as part of Sam’s ‘Made in the Great War’ project. The full version has a faster version of the tune glued on the end; I’ve left that off this recording.

Played on a Hohner Preciosa in Bb/Eb; part of Melodeon.net’s Theme of the Month for November 2014, ‘Tunes with Names’

Mrs Hamilton of Pencaitland

Part of melodeon.net’s theme of the month for November 2014, tunes with names in the names! This beautiful air was written by Nathaniel Gow, around 1800; popularised in the melodeon community by the playing of Tony Hall.

Here, it’s played on a Bb/Eb Hohner Preciosa, and comes out in Eb.

L’Inconnu de Limoise

Another version of this, played as part of Melodeon.net’s tune of the month for November 2014. This time, it’s played on a Hohner 1920’s model in G/C (and played in C). This great mazurka was written by Maxou Heintzen of course.
